One of the ways that you can be sure that you are in tune with your child's learning differences and styles is to follow their lead. If your child always has music on in the background and always gets their homework done, and is efficient in the process; then don't make a big deal of having to have quiet. Some children do best if there is background, white noise, so to speak. Some children, even though they have a room of their own and a desk and everything is beautifully set up, will continue to do their homework in the kitchen where there is seeming chaos around them. That's a style. As long as they are being efficient, there is no need to play with it. Other children must have quiet and privacy. Your task as a parent is to honor their need.
