I think for many women that find themselves pregnant, it's an amazing and exciting moment, which can quickly become scary if you realize you don't have health insurance to help you during your pregnancy. I was in that situation. I had health insurance and when I became pregnant, I called up the Insurance Company and asked them to turn on my maternity coverage, and I was denied - mostly because I was single, but that's another story. I was terrified. I didn't know what to do. I knew I wanted to have good healthcare during my pregnancy. And I wasn't sure how to do that. So I talked to my primary care physician to find out what do I do, because I cant be the only one that finds themself in this situation. And I wasn't. It's sadly really common for pregnant women to be denied health coverage from their individual coverage plans. And so luckily there are programs in every State. It's called MedicAid, and what it does is it will support you through your pregnancy. It will allow you to see your OB for regular check ups. Get your pre-natal vitamins. All the things that pregnant women need to do. And it allows them to do it without worrying that they will have a huge bill at the end of it.
