Holistic Nutrition & Wellness Coach Ling Wong, MS, CHC, shares advice on how to eat a healthy and balanced vegetarian diet during pregnancy

Transcription:
If you eat a balanced vegetarian diet, you should not have any problems at all. In fact, you are probably eating more vitamins and nutrients than most people. Just make sure that you are not a junk food vegetarian, surviving on packaged processed foods.
To ensure adequate protein intake, you should pay attention to proper food combining so that you take in a balanced protein profile. A very simple example is combining rice with beans. You can also get protein from other sources such as nuts and seeds, as well as, surprisingly, leafy green vegetables. They have a lot of protein.
I always advise my clients go easy on soy products. Soy beans, taken over a long period of time, can have an impact on thyroid function. Thyroid hormone is very important in ensuring proper development.
