Bonding with Baby for Fathers

Author and Radio host Armin Brott, blogger Adrian Kulp, and father Ronald Howell discuss how  fathers can bond with their baby, something that appears to be challenging for new parents, but is actually something simple to achieve. New fathers should prepare for a tough first few months with a baby, but understand that as a child gets older, there will be more response from them. Spend time with your baby and pay attention to what’s going on with them. Take them with you to the grocery store or on a walk.

Communicating with Baby

Therapist and parent educator Allison LaTona and Infant Toddler Consultant Elsa Chahin discuss the importance of communication with a baby. Developing security and trust with a baby is critical to their relationship with you as well as their development. This feeling allows them to explore, and builds confidence and self esteem. Communication is not always cries, but gestures, body language, and eye contact. Once a parent learns these cues and how to respond to them, it moves a child toward the ultimate task of autonomy.

Wearing Baby, Slings and Carriers

Join CLE and parent educator Sarah McCormick and Otolaryngologist Nina Shapiro as they discuss the benefits of wearing a baby. By keeping your baby snug in a sling, it makes them still feel in utero. They can hear their mother’s heartbeat, feel her warmth, and smell her. Not all babies however want to be carried in a sling, but if they do, it can be a great way to get around with your baby. While using a sling is very safe, it’s important to understand how to use it safely.

Bonding with your newborn.

Join twin mom and blogger Giuditta Tornetta, progressive mom Julie Hale, and Early Development Specialist Marcy Axness as they review bonding with your newborn. Every woman is different and so is the process of bonding. Some parents might fall in love right away, and others might need more time. Understand that it is ok. You should never think you need to feel a certain way or a way others are expecting. Everything will happen when it’s supposed to happen.
