Wiping #2

What age did your kids start wiping #2 themselves. My 3 1/2 year old is really good about taking care of potty by herself, but I have her call me for #2.

Ugh...I still find skimarks in my 9 year old's underwear sometimes. I think around 5 is when I have trusted most of them to get clean themselves. It's a challenge.

Ha! Same here. And I often come across an unflushed bowl with no TP in it — I suspect my almost 5 year old. Lots of reminders but we can't wipe for them forever!

I teach four and five year olds and several of them each year ask for help. I talk them through it and sometimes have to talk to parents about letting the child get independent in this area. The only for them to learn is to try it out!

Awe...you're good to help the child learn and carry that coaching over to the parents.

She tries to wipe now, I just ask her to let me double check. As far as finding it in the toilet with out toilet paper, 2 of my kids are suspects for this and it isn't my 3 year old.

I needed to hear this! We still wipe my 5.5 year old because he just doesn't do a good enough job. He does know how though. He really is getting to old for that.

Ugh. I hate this part. I feel like my older child caught on to this at an earlier age than my second child is. Maybe that's my fault, but I am READY for my 5 yo to do this herself. We've been talking about it for a while. She feels like she can't. This girl...

When my oldest was 5 he would purposely wait until he got home from school to take care of business. My 3 1/2 year old seems willing to do it, but often misses the majority. For that reason I have told her to tell me when she goes and I'll check. I'm hoping I'm not going to set her back.
