What's the maximum amount of TV time you allow per day?

Unfortunately I didn't put many limits on this, except I monitored the content of what they watched. I would rather they watch TV than play too many video games which would set my son off.

I know this is going to seem really strict, but it is 45 minutes a day. I try not to make too big of a deal about it, and if nobody asks we don't watch any, which happens a good bit of the time. We occasionally have movie nights, and sometimes there is sports on.

Well, if you're able to pull that off then more power to you! My family's all movie fanatics & we just can't give those up.

We don't have to put limits on TV...my son is not much into TV. I do have to put limits on the computer though.

I monitor more of the content than the time but I don't like them sitting more than an hour or so and they need to go do something else - chores, go outside, homework, talk on the phone, whatever it is!

I don't have limits during the school year because there isn't that much time left in the day once they get home from school. On school days, it's not unusual for the TV to stay off until I turn it on when they've gone to bed. I'm more mindful on weekends, though they get sick of TV before I need to tell them to turn it off. It's the Animal Jam on the Chromebook that I have to put limits on. It turns her into a zombie, I swear.

lol ;)

I don't know what the Animal Jam is but for my son, the Kindle is much more of a problem than TV!  He stays glued to that thing if I let him but I agree, with school back in and sports there isn't much time left in a day. Summer was a different story — towards the end they were getting WAY too much screen time but working from home, I was just in survival mode those last few weeks!

Oh my gosh, me too! All they would say is, "Mommy, can I w--" and I would say, "YES" and just let them go. It was so hot this summer we couldn't even go outside, so I was in total survival mode.

I don't have a strict limit either.  During the summer I do force them outside and will turn it off after a bit.  During school year, there is no TV until all chores and homework is done.  Sometimes thsat means they don't watch any.

Mommy Ramblings

I don't watch TV and my kid's don't either.  I know strange.

That's how my husband grew up and now I can say he watches more TV then me.

beachcitymom

Not really strange..lol. I used to watch more TV as a kid but now I don't watch much TV at all. My husband likes TV more than my son and I.

We don't have limits on television. We all watch it together. As long as their homework is done and their grades are doing well, I don't limit screen time on the computer or devices either. Often times, if they're studying something in school, I often encourage them to look up games or research fun facts to share.

Jonbon this is another area where we are exactly the same.

I think we are besties and just don't know it yet!
