What have you done alone and what won't you do alone?

Sometimes I've had time to myself and I don't have a problem going to the movies alone, or eating in a restaurant alone...some of my friends say they would never do these things alone. What have you done alone and what won't you do alone?

I really don't ever get a chance to do any of these alone. I would definitely eat by myself in a restaurant though.

Awe. Sometimes life gets tough for us. Eating in a restaurant alone is awesome!

My alone time is too far and few between. I enjoy going to the mall or movies alone. I never hike alone though - just to be safe.

I love that you brought up safety. It's good to be aware of what puts us at risk...I agree on hiking should never be alone.

I don't think I have ever gone to a movie alone. I am not sure if I would really want to. I would go out to eat alone though or go to Disneyland alone...my son is too much into thrill rides these days..lol. I really don't think I have done too many thing alone since becoming a mom...except for walks. I do appreciate my walking times...ooh...and spa days..but they aren't too often...seems like once a year lately..

I don't know that movies alone are ideal..but there have been a few where my husband wasn't interested and my kids weren't the right age for the rating. Sometimes we all just need some down time. Being a mom can make it challenging to find ME time.

I've done everything alone including travelling. I make friends on the way. I don't mind eating, going to the movies but I really would prefer someone along most times.

I love it! "Meeting friends along the way" is an awesome perspective! I don't mind it either--and, like you, I'd rather have company.

I can't think of anything I wouldn't do alone. I often get comments from people that they "would never do that", especially when I've attended (blogging) conferences without knowing a soul there.
jonbonjovious
I am like you. There is so much to be discovered. Love that you have attended blogging conferences.

I don't mind doing things alone and actually prefer it a lot of the time — especially going to the mall/shopping. I think I'd feel awkward eating alone in a restaurant but do it all the time in a coffee shop. I've never been to a movie alone but I would!
beachcitymom
I prefer shopping alone too! Although..it isn't as often as I would like. :)

Shopping alone is awesome--and I find it very cost effective. I can make smart decisions much better without my kiddos input or my husband's impatitience.

I thought I would love grocery shopping alone now that my 3 year old is in preschool, but it actually turned into a real downer. I missed her talking while I was shopping. So the next week, we went shopping before she went to school.

@Frugal, I know what you mean! Sometimes I wait to go grocery shopping until I pick my youngest up from preschool. She's my little buddy. Grocery shopping with one is so much easier than three though!

Me either! My husband is actually taking me shopping this weekend for my birthday (his idea) Not sure how THAT is going to go! haha

A goal of mine is to travel alone. I have flown to visit family without my children but I would like to experience a new place alone, just to see how it is!
beachcitymom
That is a great goal!! I have a friend (who is single) that does that quite often...and it sounds like a lot of fun!

Traveling alone would be really exciting! I think it would make me a little uncomfortable at times but be so much fun at the same time!
jonbonjovious
A great goal and one I hope you experience soon! I travel alone. It's different. I find myself wanting to share all the new discoveries with my children. Then too, I love that I am only responsible for me and everything is on my schedule.

I went out to get somethng to eat alone but the first time it was awkward for me. Most of the time I have someone or 2 or 3 with me. I don't think I ever went to a movie alone.
jonbonjovious
Ha! I think eating alone is still kind of awkward. Meal time seems to go so much faster.

I have two single friends (who are not moms) who have traveled the globe alone. I don't think I would be comfortable in some of the foreign countries they have been to, but I would like to explore around the US alone. I may like it, or not!
beachcitymom
same here...well..I have one single friend who has traveled all over and was in the Peace Corp too..not sure if I would be comfortable in a foreign country....but I think I could manage Paris alone..lol.
