I have 14 and 11 year old daughters. The 11 year old has darker hair then the 14 year old. So far neither have very noticable hair, on legs or armpits, but I've told both about it, but they haven't started yet. I have a feeling that they will both decide to start around the same time.
My daughter was in 6th grade when she started feeling self concious about her hair so we decided together. I gave her an electric shaver and then she graduated to a razor when she felt ready!
Underarms, I would say as soon as it becomes noticeable. Legs, middle school & yes, I would stick with electric, I think a safety razer is too dangerous. I would be with her when she tries it the first time if she's ok with that.
Guess I'm lucky that my kids aren't extremely hairy. Definitely will be investing in electric razor though. Hadn't thought of that, although it's what I used when I was a teen.
I'm so glad you asked this! My 9 year-old was asking me about this the other night. I couldn't remember at all when I started, but I think her hair is a little darker than mine. I just hope her friends don't start any time soon because then she'll feel like she needs to. I'm not ready for her to be that old yet!
I know! I feel the same way---my daughter's 11. She wants to shave, but I just don't see the need...she has lighter hair and great confidence. I'm not ready for her to be more independent and grown up.

That's awesome. My daughter has light hair. She is 11 and starting to ask about shaving! I'm just not ready to rush growing up--

Yes, it seems like such a grown up thing to do, shaving. I want to hold off as long as possible.
Mommy Ramblings
My girlfriend and mom of 4 girls just told me her 10 year old just started shaving her legs.

Oh my! I have a 9 year old so I feel like that's way too young! Probably depends on the kid though. I'm just not ready.
