How do you control your chid's internet activity?

At the park this morning another mother and I were discussing children and the internet. I'm curious, how do you control your child's internet activity?

When they were younger, I had to be in the room when they were online. They had strict rules about not using their last names or putting the city where they live on any sites. As teenagers I check their history (they are not allowed to delete this) and do random checks. So far, they have been very trustrworthy. How about at your house?

My younger kids are not really on the internet much so it is not an issue now. I would think that you would have to set a time limit for school days and weekends etc. I think they have software that will lock them out if they are breaking the rules consistently.
