Flu shot?

Posted September 15, 2015 - 10:35am

Do you do the flu shot every year for your kids? Or you? We have because my youngest is five and younger children are more at risk. I called to book appointments at the pediatrician for their shots yesterday and they said they don't have them yet. I thought that was strange - isn't it time to get flu shots already?

My husband is against them.  I'm sort of on the fence.  We haven't gotten them in a few years.  I did see that they were doing them at our local pharmacy but maybe they aren't ready yet where you live?

My husband is the same Haliz.  We have never done the flu shot.  I didn't even do it when I was pregnant.  It is strange that your doctor doesn't have them yet though Candy because the drug stores are advertsising to come in for your shots now.

I know, right? Last time I checked Walgreens will only do shots for 7+ and my littlest is 5.

Oh bummer.  Maybe they don't have kids doses ready yet and that's why your doctor doesn't have it.

I've heard too much said against them & have heard of healthy people getting sick from them. No thanx.

We don't do them, but I do feel a bit conflicted about it every year.

Me too!  I always feel guilty when the pediatrician recommends them and I decline.

I am also mixed on the Flu shots...but we did get them last year. I think they are avail at the local pharmacy. I think we went in October last year.

I always get one and my son also because he is at risk with his Diabetes. My daughter who is 17, I let her choose. I think the shot does cut down on the severity of illnesses but I don't necessarily like the way it makes me feel.

I was against them until I was pregnant because I did have a reaction one year. But I've never had a problem since. We decided the benefits outweighed the risks since we've had little ones. Interesting that so many are against them. Food for thought now that my kiddos are getting older.

Mommy Ramblings

I like to get one and it seems the years I don't, I get hit hard with the flu.

I've heard washing your hands frequently is the best way to stay healthy. When I worked in health care I was rarely sick even though my clients frequently were.

We don't get flu shots. My grandmother had one about ten years ago and it was not a good experience. We try and eat healthy, get rest and wash our hands often. We sometimes get the flu, but it seems far better than what my grandmother went through to avoid it.
