What are your kids going to be for Halloween?

Posted September 7, 2015 - 9:03am

I know it's early, but I'm excited for fall! Do your kids already know what they want to be for Halloween? I bought my son a referee costume right after Halloween last year so that's what he'll be this year. My youngest said she wanted to be Anna from Frozen this year (she was Elsa last year) and my middle daughter wants to be Ariel — she got the costume when we went to Disneyland this summer.

Sound like great costumes. We don't celebrate Halloween, but our church has a harvest festival where they don't allow scary costumes. My favorite was when my son went as Where's Waldo? He won a prize for that. He was also Mario one time.

Your Kid's Table

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, so I'm thinking about it too. My second will wear a pirate's costume my grandmother made. So, my mom, my uncles, myself, my sisters, and his older brother all wore it too! My youngest will be Kermit (hand me down), and my oldest has for the moment decided to be a pirate too.

Oh, that's so cool!  My kids dress as pirates every year for the 4th of July parade.  So much fun!

This is usually a last minute decision for most of the kids, except my 11 year old.  I happened to be at the drug store with her the other day and she saw some of the Halloween costumes.  She asked if she could look at them and then came over to me saying, oh well, I still have time to decide.  So I guess she doesn't even know yet.

My kids are already all over this one. Older one will be Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. Younger one will be Skye (?) from Paw Patrol. I really wanted them to be something more creative than that, but I decided that was a battle I wasn't going to pick this year. I love creating unusual costumes but I guess maybe they are the wrong age for that. (I'm planning to dress as Sadness from Inside Out. I really just wanted to dye my hair blue.)

very cool about dressing up as Sadness! :)

I'm pretty excited about it. My older daughter keeps telling me to be Joy instead because I'm tall (and happy, she says), but I think it will be more fun to be Sadness.

Mommy Ramblings

Have not decided yet but my kids have so many costumes. It is literally a costume extravaganza over here. Even with that they decide on something else at the last minute and then we add to that stash. It is okay because my kids dress up all the time. I am not that into Halloween because where I live it is usually freezing by then and you have to drive to the house because we do not have developments etc. Not ideal for trick or treating.

My son hasn't quite decided yet but thinks maybe a Pokemon character.

Oh, my! We LOVE Halloween. My children usually pair up in complementing costumes. This year they are doing their own thing. I really miss when I had more say. This year my daughter is going to be Wednesday and my son a video game character. They love dressing up--and I laugh because if they are invited to more than one Halloween event where costumes are suggested, they will come up with another costume (they never wear the same costume twice!).

I have a Spiderman, Batman, and Minion. We don’t purchase costumes until the 1st week of October though, so they may end up changing their minds.

It's bittersweet for me. My two are ages 15 and 17 and don't dress up anymore. I loved that holiday too. It is a different phase of parenting now for sure!

My son is almost 12 and thinks that he is too old for many things...this may be his last year for dressing up..hope not!

I loved it when my kids were really little and I got to pick their costumes.  I had an October baby so that year they were all pumpkins — my own little pumpkin patch!  Before that I had a University of Washington football player and an itty bitty cheerleader.  Hubs and I wore UW rain ponchos and went as fans.  Then the kids started shooting down my ideas.... :(
