Alisa Donner: How to empower the mom in everyone? Well, this year, that is our tagline at Pregnancy Awareness Month. We want to empower the mom in everyone. We’ve always been about empowering the mom and empowering you as you step into parenting.
This year, it’s a little bit different because we’ve brought in more of the dad. More of the caretakers as well. But there’s a lot of people, I guess I could quote one of our First Ladies that says It takes a village and it does. It takes a lot of people and a lot of ideas in order to build a community that you can parent a child in and that a child can be a part of. So we want to empower everyone who’s invested in parenting. Whether that’s the grandmother, it’s the aunt, it’s the caretaker, it’s the dad, it’s the mom, we want everyone who's invested and interested in that life to be a part of what we’re doing this year. To feel that they’re getting something out of what PAM and the PAM message is about this year. So we’ve added that as a way to just embrace, embrace the mom in everyone.
To me, being empowered is to feel comfortable, to feel confident and to feel firmly centered and grounded. So whether you’re a mom, or a dad, or the second mom, or the grandmother, whoever it is that’s coming into the life of that child to help raise the child, the baby. It’s about being planted. So that’s what we’re wanting to do. We’re wanting to help all the members of that family, of that community, for the child to feel that they can walk in, chest lifted, confident, whether they know the answer, they know where to find it, they know that they’re there, present. So it's - . Empowering, it’s a sensation as much as it is a thought. It’s - . I keep moving my arms like this for a reason because to me that’s empowering. I’m feeling strong. I want you to feel strong.
