Well you know parenting is stressful. And anyone who tells you it isn't, they're lying or they've just written a book they want you to buy called Stress-Free Parenting. I bet you there is such a book. I can't dress it up. The fact of the matter is, I'm actually a good prophylactic, I think. Anyone who comes to me and says, your kids are okay. Your marriage is strong. I'm like, yeah, but you got to work at it 24 hours a day. And just when you think you've got it covered, just when you think you've nailed the whole parenting thing and you've nailed the whole marriage thing, something comes along and kicks you in the butt and completely changes it. And things like this, having kids and being a father, the difference is that they happen at a rapid rate. So prior to this my life was full of ups and downs and little weird oddities happening to me. But the minute you have kids, these things happen in a minute by minute basis. The stuff that these kids, you thought you had a handle on, the stuff that they were doing 5 minutes ago, just doesn't apply 5 minutes later. They're then doing something that completely blows your mind. So in terms of working around the stress, in terms of keeping your marriage strong, I think some of it is a bit of an us and them syndrome. My wife and I have constant laughs about what our kids get up to. And in those moments where everything goes wrong. You wake up in the morning and from the moment your foot leaves the bed and stands on a piece of lego, to the moment that your child does a poo and it goes gushing all over your face, seriously, those are the days that you just have to laugh. Otherwise you get a divorce.
