When I became a stay-at-home dad, I found going forward that I didn't necessarily miss the social interaction of the environment because I was able to take my strengths from the working environment and apply them to the environment of being a stay-at-home parent. I would suggest that people do the same thing, too. If you worked at a production company and then you became a stay-at-home dad, volunteer to make the graduation video for the graduating class. If you are a musician, help out with the school band. If you are in a position of leadership at work, then volunteer to be a room parent or volunteer with the PTA or be on one of the many committees. Use whatever strengths that made you a star in the work environment, and apply them to being a stay-at-home dad.
