So you have let's say a 9-month old that you've started in sleep training and you've decided to do what I call time checks. Put them in awake, because everybody's going to tell you that, including me. And then leave. And check on them in maybe 5-10-15 minute intervals. But your 9-month old knows how to stand up, grasp onto the railing, and scream. Sometimes they even like bang their head, fall down, and hit their head. It's like a tear-jerker for us as parents. And if you feel like this is not working. I mean, really in 3 days, you should see progress. And if you don't then I would suggest you stop. And you go back and you sit next to the crib, and you start with a gentler method. And encourage, when the baby stands up, you just sit down. You moms or dads have to sit down. Because if you stand up, they're going to grab for you. So if you sit down and just pat in between the railing of the crib and encourage them to lie down. And some parents will say, oh Kim, they will stay standing up for an hour. You know grasp onto the railing. If you feel like there's a magical moment that if I lie my baby down now and do a little stroke of the back, they'll stay down, then go ahead and do that. What I want you to avoid is doing that multiple times. And then you're going to get into a complete power struggle and everybody will be hysterical. So you're better off staying,e encouraging them to lie down, and then again, gradually moving out over the course of a week.
