What is the best way to baby proof a bathroom? This is an area that you're in a lot in your home and your child finds absolutely fascinating. You want to start by putting away in a lockbox or up high all your medicines, your over-the-counter products, your first aid items. You want to put away your perfumes, your nail polish, rubbing alcohol. You want to latch your doors and cabinets. In the tub, this is an area that requires a lot of attention. First of all, you want to reduce your water heater temperature to 120 degrees fahrenheit so if the child turns on the taps, does not scald themselves. You can pad your faucets so they don't accidentally bump up against them. You want to put non-skid matting down the bottom of your tub. And also on the rugs on the floor, you want to have non-skid backing. Never, ever leave your child unattended in the bathtub, and be sure to empty the water out of the tub when you are finished. You also want to put a lid lock on your toilet seat and keep that lid closed. Children can drown in the toilet. And one additional thing that you want to do is to take away the toilet cleaning brush.
