The best tips for families with food allergic children are take a breath. It is okay. You are going to get through this. Somehow you are going to have to find some kind of balance with being vigilant, helping to keep your child safe, but hopefully not go overboard that your child does not get to experience life. But also another big thing that I would say is you are your child´s absolutely best advocate whether it is being going to school, doing sleepovers, going to a restaurant, you are your kids best, best advocate. And honor that and go with it because you are the one who is going to keep your child safe.

Joyce Jung Machin is a wife and mother of two beautiful girls - Maya and Ella. She is a pediatric occupational therapist with over 15 years of experience.
