Technology and communication is not all bad. There are some good things about it. In fact, a lot of the kids who are really shy and have a tough time initiating contact with other kids, it's a great way to break the ice. It helps those kids. It also helps those kids that aren't real verbally. When you are communicating through texts, there are no pauses. I had a kid this week actually tell me, one of the good parts about communicating through texts is that it's easy to say, "sorry." You don't have to look at the person. I think it takes out some of the emotional tension when you are trying to communicate things that are little deeper and emotionally laden.

Dr. Christopher Fulton is a licensed clinical psychologist and has been in private practice for over ten years. He received his doctorate in 1994 from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles.
