How do you make sure that your kids have good friends, or good friends who'll have your kids influence your daughter? I guess what I have to say is being an athlete my whole life, I made sure that my kids were in activities - elite activities. Now, a lot of parents get a problem with the money involved in elite activities, whether it be sports or whatever. But my theory was that the money I was spending on those elite activities was putting them in an atmosphere, and giving them friends that were also achieving and looking for elite status which gave them solid friends, and gave them solid core values on how to work hard. Not that they didn't have a few friends from school and stuff. But I think my daughters' influence on them were stronger than their influence on my daughters. So I'm strong believer in really involving your children in some type of elite activities; whether it's academic or sports. It doesn't matter, just as long as her peers are also high achievers
