The hormonal methods of birth control are ones that actually have hormones inside of them. The way that they work is that they prevent ovulation – the egg being released into the fallopian tubes – and then they also make a mucus – a cervical mucus – a little bit heavy and it prevents the sperm from going through and they also cause the lining of the uterus not to become larger, I should say, or develop.
The best people to use this type of method are individuals who are good at keeping record, because they come in daily use doses, they also come in monthly doses and weekly doses. So it depends on the individual. It’s something that you really have to talk with your health provider in order to decide which method works best for the individual. A lot of people like these particular types of hormones and they continue to use them for a long period of time. It’s not recommended for women who are over the age of 35 and who are smokers.
