A lot of parents ask, should I pay my child an allowance? Or should I pay them money for getting good grades? A lot of teenagers share with us that they love getting an allowance because it means if they do the chore, they get rewarded. If they don't, they don't get an allowance. What's great about that is that it actually models a salary system for later in life. So, if teenagers do the work, they get rewarded. Grades are a different thing. If you are a parent and you are providing shelter, clothes, and food; teenagers should be expected to get decent grades, and to work and learn in school because that's important for their whole future. I highly recommend, and teenagers recommend, to reward them for working in the home, but make sure they always get good grades, no matter what.
