Communicating with your teenager is not an easy task. It might seem simple, but it's not easy. I think you have to be very present with them. I think you need to let them know that you are listening to them because they can tell if you are asking a question to get some communication out of them. Just try to find whatever is going on in their life; whether it's the girlfriend, whether it's the party, whether it's the sports team, whatever is going on in their life. Find something that you know they would love to talk to you about. My daughter will speak to me about, pretty much, anything, forever and ever. My son give me three word answers, so I have to continue to pull it out of them. I try to find a few minutes each day, to try and talk with my kids.
