Yeah, our teens are pretty hard to reach and we have to get creative sometimes, because they’re pretty plugged in these days with technology and so, one of the first things I like to do to make sure they’re not too plugged in. So they’re not the iTouch or on their phone or plugged in listening to music in the car. You want to make sure that there is this kind of indirect ways of communicating. So in the car is one of the best ones. Shuttling your kids from one place to the other, especially if there’s another kid in the car, they’re talking and they don’t even know that you’re in there and then you could throw in a question or two – it makes it much more fluid. But if everyone’s plugged in, it makes it difficult. The other thing is you want to make sure that when you’re doing something around the house and you see an opportunity for your child to do it as well, like cooking dinner, doing a household project, try to involve them, try to have them there. Don’t make it like, “You have to help me make dinner!” You want to make it to where, “Hey, give me a hand. I want to show you how to make this dish.” And then they’re like, “Okay.” They’re more invited to that. So you want to make sure that you create both direct and indirect opportunities to communicate.
