One of the things I've learned, having had teenagers for a while, is that I pick my battles. There are things I know now that they're just not going to want to do and I have to decide within myself if I'm okay with that. At this age I think it's about health and safety. Most of the things that I really drive home to my kids when I need them to do something, they just have to do it. It pretty much relates to health and safety. I've let go of the messy bedrooms. I've let go of watching TV too late in the evening. I'm very careful about the battles that I pick.
