if your child is arrested for a serious offense, such as a sex crime, a serious assault, serious drug charges, some weapons possession charges. You can expect that they can be taken in to court and formal and legal proceedings will be initiated against them and in other words the DA will file criminal charges against them in Juvenile Court. The first thing that you are going to have to do is to try to persuade the Judge with a help of a lawyer to realease your child and let them remain out of custody while the charges are pending until the case is resolved. And there will ultimately be some kind of resolution of the case, and if there's a conviction on these serious charges there maybe sometime in a Juvenile Hall that is ordered or depending on the severity of the offense, they could be ordered in the custody for a longer periods of time. They could go to a camp for 4 months or up to a year. Those are the types of sentences you can typically expect for serious charges. For the most serious charges and this is a rarity, in cases of murder, attempted murder the most serious charges are they could be charged as adult and face the same kind of punishments that adults face in state prisons.
