Diet and nutrition are crucial to learning. It's a direct connection between what we take in and how our mind is going to work. The place to start is breakfast. Breakfast is very important. One thing we can do is stop. Stop feeding our kids cereals. I know this is hard for people, but any cereal that has a lot of sugar and a lot of carbs. Give them protein and here's why: If we give the child a lot of sugar, the child goes to school and usually has something where he or she needs to sit down and learn - PE usually doesn't happen at 8:00 in the morning -- a lot of those kids in that classroom are not going to be able to sit down and learn because the body is processing the carbs and the sugar. It's going to funnel through the system. Some kids can sit just fine, but four or five kids in that classroom of twenty-five are not going to be able to sit well. That's just one example. Another example is later. If we want kids to learn around 2:00, make sure they are not eating a lot of fat and sugar around noon. Direct relationship between learning and what our body takes in.
