Many parents worry about how they can successfully help their teenager with their homework. This is a huge issue because you really want your teenager to do well in school, but you also want to make sure that they are doing it on their own and you're not helping them too much. The first thing that parents need to think about is that they are on the same page with their teacher. Sit down with the teacher, look at the syllabus, look over the course expectations, and make sure that you know what is expected of your teenager and a view for the class. Second, establish a study central. A study central is an area in your home that is well-lit, has a nice chair, all the school supplies you could ever need instead of running around the house looking for ruler or tape. Lastly, ask them how you can help them best. Teenagers will tell you, "Hey Mom, I would love for you to help me on my History homework." Or, "Leave me alone, I can do it myself." That way you are respecting them, but you are also there as a support.
