In homes across America every evening you will hear some families having homework struggles. This is pretty common. There are some things to think about. What's causing the struggle? Is it because my child is really having difficulty learning and difficulty with the material. Maybe there is a learning difficulty or difference going on. Or is it that my child just gets distracted by everything and wants to do other things? Or perhaps there is just no time and no structure for homework. So start off by thinking about when should we do homework. And I say "we" because you need to be involved somewhat to help them get started. How long should my child be doing homework for? If it is 3 hours, maybe it's just too much. Is there too much pressure on my child and what kind of help do they need? If you are not the right person to help your child with homework, find someone who can help them but don't do your child's homework for them. See it as a positive thing, not something to dread every night.
