If your child is caught cheating, I'm going to advise you to do one of the hardest things you will ever have to do as a parent, and that is, make him take the consequence. What we are seeing these days that parents are more concerned about what you get as opposed to who you are. We are failing to realize that cheating is a dishonest act that is robbing our children's character. From the very first moment in childhood, toddler on, you need to make a rule in your house that you expect honesty. Number two is if a child is caught cheating, take a moment to hear him out. Number three is make him stop it, before it becomes a habit. If your child younger and he cheats on that Candy Land game, stop and go, "No, we're not going to play anymore because we need to play fairly in this house." If your older child is caught plagarizing that test, then make re-do the test or re-do the paper. I urge you to this because we are seeing more and more kids in widespread surveys across the US saying that cheating is acceptable. So I'm going to pose it to you. When was the last time you saw a parent with a bumper sticker that said, "Proud parent of a decent kid"? We put so much emphasis on the test score, we are forgetting the moral fiber inside. Raise an honest child. You'll be glad you did.
