Some kids are bullied when they are young, for example, in First Grade because there was a mean kid in class. That doesn't mean that they are going to be bullied for the rest of their life. We have to consider the intensity, the frequency, and the severity of the bullying and how your child responded to it. Did your child come talk to you and you taught your child strategies about bullying and then they felt better afterwards? Or did your child still hold on to the bullying and they are still talking about it in Fifth Grade? And if every time another child talks to them, they come and tell you they are being bullied. As a parent, for you to ascertain: How does your child perceive and respond to difficult conflictual situations, how they handle social situations in general, and how do they respond to group situations? From that point you can determine if they stay in a victim role or do they stay in a leadership role or are they just typically a bystander in situations.
