Just because your child is really talented at a certain sport, doesn't mean that that is something they are going to be playing years from now or something they are actually in love with.
I don't think you want a kid to quit at any sport at any time, whether they are really talented or not talented at all. You want them to follow through and be responsible. If they start something, you want them to finish it. That doesn't mean year after year after year, if they start a program, when they leave, they hurt the whole team. The team relies upon the individuals on the team.
I would encourage you to keep them on the team as much as you can, as long as they can live with it.
