Without question, the most important piece of advice that I would give any parent who has a child with disabilities, is to educate themselves. Find out as much as you can. Read. Go on the internet. Go to forums. Support groups. Find out everything that you can. Because I believe that we are quasi-prepared as parents. Even with our first child, we learn passively through the relationship that we had with our own parents, what we see on the television, what we see in films. But there is so much more that we need to know when you are the parent of a disabled child, Inform yourself. Educate yourself. That's it.
