My son had sensory issues when he was young. He was a late speaker, so he couldn’t communicate his needs. And what was frustrating him and how he felt. So he… we promoted his ability to care for himself, like with the hygiene issues and self-care. So helping him be able to like comb his hair himself and brush his teeth himself and having access to a drink of water and things that he could do himself even before he could speak helped him feel more comfortable. So that I didn’t have to dress him, he could dress himself. That helped. Also, you know, comfortable fitting clothes that fit properly in layers, so that he could have the capability to take things off or put things on as he felt he needed to be comfortable.
