I think a parent should have their child tested whenever they have questions about their ability and/or school performance. Testing provides, sort of a snapshot, of a child's skill set and abilities at a given time, and allows a parent and a school to develop more appropriate expectations of the students; whether it's performance in school or ability to learn. To develop a plan that allows for opportunities for enrichment in areas of strength, but also areas of remediation and also areas where they are struggling. Testing is something that, whenever there is a question; parents pay attention to it. I think that's kind of -- If you wait until the problem surfaces or worsens, there can be time that's lost. The impact for children, when they are gifted and are not given the resources to keep them engaged and enjoying class, versus they are struggling and just not that bright or these are things that they are just not good at. It, sort of, diminishes the fun they have in learning. I think that is one of the most important things that parents can provide for their children, an environment that is supportive and positive; but also geared toward developing skills.
