There are some children who like to dress up and sometimes it's a little boy who wants to dress in girl's clothes or a girl who always wants to wear the overalls and what they think of as typically boys clothes, and I think as parents we have to be very open with young children, to let them express who they are. There's a whole range of gender issues that are hard to talk about in our society even though things are getting more open. So, if you have a little boy who goes to school and is dressing up, make sure that the teacher is someone who is going to be okay with that and not make him feel ashamed. As a parent, don't make your child feel bad if that's what they go towards. If you have a husband or wife or partner who is really upset about this, you need to talk about what the issue is. As your child gets older and if they want to dress up as the opposite sex regularly, you might want to get some help to figure out how to make sure that they're not getting teased, and they're not feeling bad about who they are.
