If you suspect that your childcare provider or your daycare provider is doing something that's illegal, what are your rights as a parent?
First right is you are the parent. You are the parent of a child and you're responsible to protect your child. So your first right is to make sure and investigate. What is it that's dangerous and what is it that's illegal? It can be something as simple as they leave the door open and a dog comes in. It's dangerous, but it's fixable.
If there is something more serious that you feel is going on, remember, you have to protect your child first. The first thing you want to do to protect your child is you may need to pull the child from the childcare program to protect your child. You can also contact your local licensing agency. You can contact them, and you can let them know that you feel and they will go out and investigate.
Here in the state of California, you can contact community licensing and within ten days, they will investigate. You can even do it anonymously and they will go out an investigate and see what's happening.
