Breathing oxygen during deliver can be extremely beneficial.
There is a fundamental difference between fetal hemoglobin and adult hemoglobin. Hemoglobin meaning, the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. Fetal hemoglobin has a greater affinity for oxygen, so when a patient is in labor and they get oxygen; a small amount of oxygen for the mom, means a tremendous amount of oxygen for the baby. That will help the baby deal with the stress and tolerate labor a lot better.
