Alisa Donner: My best advice to pregnant women is to pause and to slow down the pace. It’s a time that’s internal. Pregnancy is internal. There’s so much going on and changing in your body and in your mind and in your spirit. And you’re creating a life. There’s a rush in all of our lives. And there’s a rush when you’re pregnant. To think that you need to get through everything. You need to figure out what your nursery is going to look like for the baby. Or pick out their clothes. It’s really about taking that time. You won’t have, especially if it’s your first pregnancy, you won’t have this kind of quiet time with yourself and your mate again. It’s going to change. You’ll have other times, you’ll have other opportunities but it’s going to really shift. And I don’t want to scare anybody; it’s about preparing for that. And thinking what your values are and talking about that as a couple so that you can make choices as you launch into parenting. That will help you to actually have those values to be present in every choice that you make as a parent. Take the time.
