Transcription:
Egg banking has become a reality in our field and it is very empowering for certain situations. Approximately eight years ago, we didn´t really have the technology to equivocally say that this was a correct approach. However, the technology has changed and our governing body, the American Society of Reproduction Medicine, has now removed it as a consideration as investigational. While not yet the standard of care, it is a very appropriate treatment to consider in women that would like to defer the likelihood of conception. This can be done for various reasons. It could be that you want to not get pregnant because you don´t have the right partner or it could be for collecting the eggs prior to cancer treatment. Both of those situations are very enabling and we are able to now do this with much success.
