Going to a class to learn hypnosis for birthing is not absolutely necessary, but it is certainly extremely beneficial. Typically in class, you will have an instructor that teaches a skill and then over the next week, you will build on that skill at home. When you return to class the next week, you learn a skill that is a little bit more advanced. So you are building on your skills. When you are working with a professional instructor who knows how to do that, it really makes the process so much easier. There is also a lot of home study programs that can be excellent resource who don't have an instructor near them. The Hypno-Baby, childbirth hypnosis, is actually a really great program that my sister is using right now. She's having a great time.

Mandy Schutt

Doula & Hypnosis Instructor

Mandy Schutt was backpacking around the world when she decided that she wanted to become a doula. As she floated through the Amazon Pampas with two European midwives, she was immediately captivated by their birth stories and the culture of womanhood that they spoke of. Traveling on through South America, Europe, and Asia, she was able to witness motherhood in a different light than she had before. When she ran across the term, "doula" for the first time, she knew this was a name she wanted to claim for herself!

Mandy looks at a woman's ability to grow another life inside of her as nothing short of a miracle. She supports women in their efforts to discover this for themselves and know that the act of giving birth is more than just an isolated event in a mother's life, it is realization of an empowerment that many never realized existed. She gave birth to her daughter in 2009, which was the single most amazing event of her life. Mandy believes that women should birth where and how they are the most comfortable and secure. Her safe place was in her home with a midwife, her husband, a doula, hypnosis, and a gorgeous pool of pain-dissolving water!
