As Working Mother magazine’s Executive Editor, Barbara Turvett is integrally involved in the magazine’s editorial viewpoint and planning. She oversees and edits women’s, family and work life content, top edits the entire magazine and also contributes to workingmother.com. Barbara has specialized in parenting, women’s health and education topics throughout her career. She has written and edited for many national publications and websites, among them Parenting, Parents, Family Circle, Weight Watchers, Child, McCall’s, Sesame Street Parents, Healthy Kids, Men’s Fitness and American Baby magazines. Barbara has edited two award-winning early childhood education books, and she has written a health book and edited several cookbooks for Weight Watchers Publishing Group. Prior to life in publishing, she was an actress and singer and performed in film, theatre and nightclubs. Barbara enjoys life in New York City with her husband, teenage daughter and pet cockatiel.

Dr. Lee Hausner is an internationally recognized clinical psychologist, business consultant and family wealth advisor. She served as the senior psychologist for the Beverly Hills Unified School District for 19 years. She is currently the Senior Managing Director for First Foundation Advisors. An acknowledged expert on psychological issues involving wealth and wealth transfer, she was a presenter at the World Economic Forum in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, and is a frequent participant at the high wealth/private client conferences for major financial institutions. She is a frequent guest on national radio and television and a quoted expert in national publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Times, Forbes, Fortune, Privilege, Town and Country and Worth Magazine.

Dr. Hausner is the co-author with Doug Freeman of A Founder's Guide to the Family Foundation, published by the Council on Foundations and is the author of the seminal work regarding wealth and the family; Children of Paradise: Successful Parenting for Prosperous Families. In addition, Dr. Hausner incorporated her unique six-step transition model for succession in family business in the critically acclaimed family business resource book Hats Off to You 2: Balancing Roles and Creating Success in Family Business, of which she was a co-author.

Dr. Hausner is a graduate of Northwestern University (BA, Psychology), San Francisco State University (MA, Psychology), and Kensington University (PhD, Psychology).

Dr. Laura Markham is the author of Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids: How to Stop Yelling and Start Connecting. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and has worked as a parenting coach with countless parents across the English-speaking world, both in person and via phone. A 15-year media veteran, Jacqui helped launch a slew of media properties for Reed Elsevier, Meredith Corporation, Miller Publishing and San Francisco magazine. Prior to media, Jacqui worked in Public Relations and counted Ringling Bros Circus and Walt Disney’s World on Ice among her clients. Her start-up experience includes sflodgings.com (an airbnb predecessor) and Breathe, a yoga lifestyle company. When not running Red Tricycle, she helps manage her six-year-old’s growing lemonade stand empire.

Chen Z. Oren, PhD, is a psychologist with a private practice in Westlake Village, CA. He is also a researcher, author, and speaker. Dr. Oren specializes in the psychology of men, fathers, and athletes.  He counsels men, women, couples, and athletes and co-leads a weekly men's group.   Dr. Oren’s work with men and fathers is focused on understanding their own experiences, challenges, and strengths to help them become fathers.  He serves on the board of the American Psychological Association, Division 51, the Study of the Psychology or Men and Masculinity.  He speaks locally and nationally on issues related to men and fathering issues, diversity, and effective counseling.  His book, Counseling Fathers (Routledge), is designed to bridge the gap between fathers and professional helpers. He has ongoing research on fathers and therapy that looks closely at the experiences of fathers to better understand their strengths and their struggles. Dr. Oren received his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from USC.

Jane Buckingham is the author of the best selling book series The Modern Girl’s Guide to Life, The Modern Girl’s Guide to Motherhood, The Modern Girl’s Guide to Sticky Situations and the The Modern Girl’s Guide to Raising Decent Daughters (Decentdaughters.com). Buckingham was the host of The Modern Girl’s Guide to Life on The Style Network and is a regular contributor to Good Morning America. She is the founder and CEO of Trendera, one of the countries foremost trend forecasting and consulting agencies, working for companies including Gap, Hilton, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Fox, Paramount, and many others. She is the proud mother of a decent 11-year-old son and decent nine-year-old daughter.  

Lisa Pierson Weinberger is the founder of Mom, Esq., a legal practice dedicated to helping parents understand and maximize their maternity leave benefits, have peace of mind when hiring employees in their homes, and find a good work/life balance when they return to the workplace after having a baby.  Prior to founding Mom, Esq., Lisa spent seven years working at the entertainment law firm of Greenberg Glusker working as an employment lawyer with many of Hollywood's A-List celebrities.  She counseled on matters related to large domestic staffs, advising on the hiring process, backgrounds checks, wage and hour issues, counseling, discipline and terminations, and preparing employment applications, offer letters and a variety of agreements including employment, confidentiality, arbitration, severance and release agreements. Lisa has a Bachelors in Psychology, with Honors, from Washington University in St. Louis, and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law where she served on the UCLA Law Review.

When her son was born, Aimee found herself in uncharted waters. She knew she wanted to be a different type of parent than her parents had been. After years of self-exploration, she felt she had healed a lot of her childhood emotional wounds and that she could be a good mother but she didn't really know how to parent differently. She went to Mommy and Me classes, breastfeeding groups, you name it, searching to fill a void she initially could not identify. They were all helpful but not what she felt she was longing for. She realized she was looking for a safe place to really talk about the challenges she was facing every day. Unfortunately, it seemed that none of the forums she found as a new mother were able to provide that. She vowed then to create such a place for parents, and the idea for Parenting Discovery Center was born.

Her educational background in psychology had nurtured her tremendous curiosity about the impact and importance of infant attachment. Her research in this area had equipped her with a conscious sieve to help evaluate the overwhelming amount of parenting advice available. What she found was that at a time of total vulnerability, parents are often taught parenting techniques that cause them to unwittingly undermine this important and essential bond. 

The Center provides a safe and supportive environment for exploring the emotions and challenges faced by new parents. They are also here to help peoople understand the importance of attachment and help parents build a conscious bond with their baby based upon their individual family's values and lifestyle. 

Christina M. Coleman, a California native, was admitted to practice law in 1997. As in-house Corporate Counsel for a family of Internet/Telecommunications Companies, she oversaw all litigation and some corporate matters. In 2000, Ms. Coleman's outstanding track record caused her to join a plaintiff's litigation firm focusing on catastrophic injury (financial and physical) cases. While at this firm, Ms. Coleman met Lisa L. Maki where they co-counseled in a few high-profile cases. As a result, they became fast friends in their pursuit of justice for their clients.

Ms. Coleman is a highly skilled litigator and negotiator who has been the key to obtaining multi-million dollar jury trials and settlements, including a 7.2 million dollar jury verdict for an individual and company in Orange County, California. In March 2006, Ms. Coleman and Ms. Maki joined forces and Ms. Coleman is the firm's senior litigator and negotiator. In this role, she continues to represent plaintiffs in their struggle for justice and fairness in the workplace and in the corporate arena.

Ms. Coleman has lectured for the Consumer Attorneys of California, Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles, and has been published in the Advocate. She has also served on the editorial board for an employment related treatise for James Publishing. Ms. Coleman was Consumer Attorneys of California’s finalist nominee for Consumer Attorney of the Year in 2008, and finalist nominee for Streetfighter of the Year in 2010. 

A member of the California Bar, Ms. Coleman graduated from University of California, Los Angeles (BA 1993) and University of San Diego School of Law (JD. 1997). Ms. Coleman currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two young daughters, and proudly participates in many legal and bar organizations

Natalie Fischer is the proud mother to Leah and Maya. Originally from Philadelphia, Natalie moved to Los Angeles in 2004 after attending Harvard Business School. Natalie balances home and work as the COO of Illumination Entertainment, an animation production company based in Santa Monica, California.

Rabbi Sherre Hirsch is a mother of four, author, speaker, TV personality, teacher and the spiritual life consultant for Canyon Ranch.  After eight years at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, she stepped out from behind the formal podium to share her message in all kinds of pulpits from The Today Show to a small baptist church in Alabama.  She published her first book, We Plan, God Laughs: What to Do When Life Hits You Over the Head in 2008; her second book will be published in early 2013. Rabbi Hirsch spends her free time practicing yoga, baking brownies and playing freeze dance with her husband and children.

Scott Lenz was born in Lewisberg, Pennsylvania. By the time he reached 9th grade, he had been to eight schools, which explains a lot about his social awkwardness. However, his wife Suzanne and two kids - Jaron, 13 and Georgia, 10 - went to less than five schools combined, so it all evens out.

He was the original rat mascot for Chuck E. Cheese, and since then has been a record store manager, music journalist, television documentarian and, most recently and importantly, a stay-at-home dad. His single greatest hope is that ABBA will one day reunite.

Dani Klein Modisett is the creator/producer/director of the shows “Afterbirth…stories you won’t read in Parents magazine,” and “Not What I Signed Up For.” These are live storytelling shows where acclaimed actors and writers perform original, funny stories about how marriage and parenting challenges them in unexpected ways. The NY Post raved about Afterbirth… calling it,"the Vagina Monologues for the stroller set.” After playing to sold out audiences for five years in Los Angeles and NYC and also making stops in Boston and San Francisco, an anthology of stories from Afterbirth was published as a book by St. Martin’s Press. Dani is a contributor to Huffington Post, Parents Magazine, and the LA Times. Before having children, Dani worked as a comic, performing across the country and participating in the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival with a solo show she wrote called “The Move.” She also taught Stand-up comedy at UCLA and now teaches a workshop at I O West called “Writing For Performance.” Afterbirth is in production as a web series for the launch of Disney’s website for Mom’s, “Not What I Signed Up For” is being developed as a pilot for television with Jerry Weintraub’s company. Dani is a graduate of Dartmouth College and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two sons.
