A boy-friendly learning environment is very important. It’s really important for parents to look at a school, even pre-k, even daycare, even a little school their kid is at, to see that they have space. There needs to be lots of space. The right side of the male brain is very spatial. It’s different than females, so males tend to need more space, or else they’ll get in trouble. Also, it needs to have a lot of hands-on. If it’s younger, it needs to have more hands-on and less sitting and reading, less sitting and doing detailed worksheets, more hands-on learning, more learning which involves physical movement. And all of this is mainly actually because of brain reasons, not as people used to think. They used to think, “Oh, well, we’ll just re-socialize them. They’ll change and fit any environment.” But the male and female brains are very different, so males do tend to need, especially boys who are having any kind of learning trouble, they need a boy-friendly learning environment.
