Discipline is a topic that all parents are interested in. The funny thing about it is that most parents think it's about punishment; but discipline comes from the Latin word meaning, teach, knowledge, learning. What we are trying to do with our children is teach them. We are not trying to hurt them or make them cry or shame the. If we frame our discipline with the idea that we are teaching them, we'll do much better. The common mistake that parents make is that they give way too many warning and they threaten too much. By the time they get around to whatever consequence is going to happen, they've blown it. My suggestion is; talk less, say what you want, be prepared to say whatever it is the consequence that will happen, and then follow through.
