One of the best things that has happened with modern obstetrics is that we are letting mother and baby have bonding almost immediately after birth in every case. So almost without exception, as soon as the baby comes out, we allow the mom to have the baby and keep the baby for quite a long time before we start doing tests on the baby, weighing the baby, giving the baby certain injections and we do allow nursing almost immediately. And for most people, they are pleasantly surprised that we allow that early bonding.
