If you want your child to cooperate, there are three basic things I recommend. One is anticipation. You let the child know what is going to happen. I would like to change your diaper now. Can you wait a little bit? And then you do the action, but you give anticipation and let him know what's coming. The second one is you have a preditable routine that is consistent. He knows that after his bad comes meal time and then comes bedtime. So he already knows. He's used to that. And the third one is the gesture of your hands. It's very important that your hands are open. They are receptive. They are offering. They are not harsh or you don't grab your child. You don't take him from behind and sneak him when he's not watching. No, you want to face him and let him know what you're going to do and you're going to say to him, I'm going to pick you up now, and you wait and you offer. And you will be surprised how easily your child will give you his hands or will give you his disposition.
