The best advice I have for mother for self-care is to actually care for yourself. Take the time to care for yourself as much as you care for your kids. In essence, pack your own diaper bag. Put some healthy snacks in there. You know you are going to be running around all day. Throw some almonds in there. Throw some cheese in there so you are not eating your kids yogurt bar. Also, to think about your day. Think about the most efficient way to get through your day, so you are not wasting energy. Call ahead to see that places are open. Today you are just a click away from finding out if that store actually stocks what your husband asked you to pick up. Be efficient about how you organize your errands, so that you give yourself more space, more clarity. Whatever you can do to prepare and give yourself that "out of the gate feeling" of "I'm going to have a chance to breath today." Of course, breathing is really important, too.
