Raising a resilient child certainly doesn't happen overnight. I think the best thing we can do to start with the idea of cultivating resilience in our kids would be to allow maybe even cultivate opportunities for failure and then reflect on the failure after it happens. We all know that in life there are ups and downs, peaks and valleys. There's no better way for us to incorporate that sense of reality, which builds resilience in the lives of our children then by allowing them to experience the regular ups and downs that children experience so that they have a greater sense of how to deal with that when they become adults. So I would talk to my child about failure, have a conversation with her. What was that experience like? What did you learn from it? Is there something that you would do different next time? Does the experience of this failure bring about any new ideas for your life, that it would cultivate some new thought or new dream or new hope for you?
