So I have four kids and I get a lot of advice from other parents on how to handle all my kids, especially, I think, with my twins. When I had my twins, everyone had advice for me – whether to dress them alike or not dress them alike, should they be in the same class or should they not be in the same class, should they breastfeed or not breast feed – it was just… it was overwhelming how people were interested in my life.
I think what I do is I try to listen. The trick is sometimes people give you advice and you know, if you’d listen, you can incorporate it. But a lot of times, I just say, “You know, I’m so confused already. Please, don’t tell me anything else.”
It was kind of my way of making them be quiet and letting them know that I really didn’t want any more advice. It was hard enough on my own, I didn’t need to hear their advice too.
