One of the most important building blocks of a great, happy, successful life is a feeling of confidence, that I am good in this world. Well one way to build confidence is, from as early as possible, notice what your child does well. "You're walking well, you're a toddler, you're building those blocks well, you pooped in the putty well" - It really doesn't matter what it is, you want to instill in him or her the sense that 'Whatever I do, I can develop skill at it.' And that sense of 'No matter what I'm doing, I can get good at it.' That's what's called a growth mindset. It's one of the major predictors of doing well in life.
