So what is the life expectancy of US children at birth compared to other countries? I think that was probably one of the hardest things to learn, and so I turned to reputable, reliable sources, like the CIA, which ranks life expectancy at birth. As I started scrolling down that list, there was part of me that thought that the US children would surely be at the top of that list, and I'm scrolling past all of the European countries, past Australia, New Zealand, Japan, past Bosnia, past Serbia, and realizing that the United States ranks 50th for life expectancy at birth for our children. That information was supported by a report out of the United Nations that ranks childhood wellbeing, and again, they ranked 29 countries around the world. The 29 richest countries around the world, and again you would think that the United States would be at the top of that list for childhood wellbeing. As I scrolled down that list, out of the 29 countries, the United States ranked 26th, just ahead of Latvia and Romania.
